Behind The Brush
Rooted in the woods, wetlands, and waterways of the South, Jorah Mitchell creates fine art shaped by a lifelong connection to the natural world. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, her paintings combine soft realism, luminous atmosphere, and a strong sense of story—often focusing on the quiet moments, movement, and character found in wildlife and the landscape. For more than a decade, Jorah has developed a body of work that ranges from intimate studio paintings to large-scale public art. Her work has received regional recognition and has been created in partnership with conservation organizations, including the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.Today, her studio practice is increasingly centered on self-directed fine art: work that invites viewers to slow down, look more closely, and reconnect with the places and living things around them.
